Although Elite Talks aims to help Vietnamese international students in Australia build faith in their career path, this year, we want to support young people in finding their strength and confidence with a simple but big word: “gratitude”.

In a modern society with too much information from digital and social platforms, the number one concern of Generation Z is, unsurprisingly, peer pressure. The young generation is born in an era that facilitates unlimited access to knowledge and learning tools. They keep breaking records and achieve higher and higher in their studies and careers. Is this a good sign? Maybe! But that may be just 2-3% of the world. With the “push” and “pressure” of looking at other great people, we believe the young generation is exhausted and never feels they have a moment for themselves. The moment for feeling thankful.

We want to explore three angles of “gratitude” in this year’s event: being thankful to people around you, for things that happened around you, and for yourself. We believe that by knowing how to say “thank you,” young people will understand themselves better, have strong minds, and be willing to explore their future journey, such as a career path in a foreign country like Australia.

After a challenging and transformative journey, Elite Talk 2024 is proud to introduce our Young Elite Speaker, representing the voices of a new generation at this year’s event themed "GRATITUDE"—please welcome ĐỖ DIỆP ANH!
At 27 years old, Đỗ Diệp Anh is currently working in business in Melbourne, Australia, after spending 11 years living and studying there. A highly ambitious individual, she initially pursued a medical degree at Monash University. However, after realizing that medicine was not her true calling, Diệp Anh bravely decided to shift her focus to the arts. This transition was far from easy, compounded by the expectations her family had for her original career path. Yet, with resilience and determination, she proved her talent through her artistic works and contributions to the community. Supported by friends and loved ones, and with early successes in her third year of university, Diệp Anh established her place in the creative field, making a lasting impact on her personal journey.
Throughout her path, Diệp Anh faced numerous challenges, from searching for a new direction in life to navigating familial and societal pressures. This has given her a deep understanding of the struggles young people face, both now and in the future.
Her hard work eventually paid off, with her first clients and design commissions. Beyond her professional achievements, Diệp Anh made her mark by pioneering the first Art Therapy class for the Vietnamese Women's Association in Australia, specifically for individuals suffering from dementia. This human-centered initiative carries a message of healing, as Diệp Anh uses her talents and passion to spread the value of art in mental health care—whether for individuals or the wider community.
Through her rich and meaningful experiences, Diệp Anh steps confidently onto the Elite Talk stage this year, not only to share her story but to inspire other young people on their own journeys of self-discovery, helping them build confidence in the path and values they choose.
